concept of Continuing Professional Development(CPD) of In service teachers( by Neelam rani )

It is very essential to provide good quality of education to all our children in the age group of 14-16 years. To achieve this, there is a need to strengthen the secondary school education by providing opportunities to teachers for improving their professional capabilities.

In India , the NCFTE (national curriculum  framework for teacher education) which was published in 2009-10 by the NCTE (national council for teacher education) has described an approach for teacher CPD. The SSA ( Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan) has even defined that each teacher is to receive 20 days of training every year.

AIMS : In service teacher professional development are to :

It provides opportunities to enrich and update teacher's knowledge in their pedagogy and other areas of school curriculum.

Research and reflect on the gaps in student's learning and their progress.

Apply information communication technology in their classrooms for better student learning.

Develop a culture of shared learning and accountability that they are engaged with the task to develop their own and the group's knowledge.
